WICHITA FALLS -- Frenship grabbed early momentum Saturday in a decisive game slugfest, but couldn’t hold in as Fort Worth Timber Creek scored the last nine runs of the game on the way to a 12-6 triumph.

That have the Lady Falcons the series victory after the Tigers forced the third game by winning earlier in the day.

Makayla Garcia erased a 3-2 deficit with a two-run tripe in the 2nd inning and Erin Boles tagged a two-run home run for a 6-3 lead. But that was the last noise Frenship (25-10) managed despite the leadoff hitter reaching in the next three frames.

Meanwhile, Timber Creek kept chipping away.

The Lady Falcons regained the lead with a four-run 4th after the inning began with three straight walks. Boles took over in relief in the middle of the uprising and finally put the fire out by retiring the final three batters.

But the Frenship ace couldn’t slow Timber Creek down and five runs over the last 3 innings were plenty of insurance.

In the loss, Boles closed out a splendid high school career with a 2-for-4 with 3 RBIs, while Garcia was 2-for-3 with 2 runs and 2 RBIs.

Boles stymies Timber Creek to force decisive game

Frenship’s offense came to life late in a must-win situation and Erin Boles dominated Timber Creek from the circle in a 6-0 triumph that forced a third game.

The Tigers rolled up 13 hits, with Makayla Garcia’s three singles and 2 RBIs from Lex Clark and AB Prestridge each driving in 2 runs to set the pace.

Clark’s run-scoring single plated Jill Franco in the 2nd inning after Franco’s leadoff double. Two innings later the lead swelled to 3-0 when Prestridge came through with a two-run base hit with two outs.

Three hits and a Timber Creek error produced two more runs in the 5th and Garcia extended the lead with a two-out knock in the 6th.

Boles was on point from the start and retired 18 of the 2 batters she faced, with both Lady Falcons who got hits erased on double plays.
