ODESSA -- Coronado went on the road with only six players and rode home with its first victory this season and the first under coach Ashley James.

The Lady Mustangs knocked off Odessa Permian 67-40, getting a career-best 33 points from Jannaeleigh Cooper and 12 from Shaneedra Domingo.

Cooper pumped in 13 floor shots -- 2 3-pointers -- and was 5-of-6 from the free-throw line. Coronado (1-3) put the game away by outscoring the Lady Panthers (0-3) 21-3 in the third quarter.

WOLFFORTH -- Elena Noyola trigged a big Frenship rally in the 3rd quarter to fuel a 58-51 victory against Sands.

Noyola produced 10 of her team-high 20 points in the third frame when Frenship (4-1) erased a four-point halftime deficit. Abbi Holder added 10 points for the Tigers and led a solid day at the free-throw line for her team by hitting 5-of-6. Frenship connected on 13-of-15 overall.

The Tigers knocked down 8 3-pointers among their 19 made floor shots, with Noyola burying 4, three of those after halftime.

AMARILLO -- Mia Trevino erupted for 35 points, but Tascosa had too much firepower and rolled past Monterey 70-44.

Trevino pumped in 11 field goals and was 10-of-13 from the foul stripe. She scored 15 points in the 3rd quarter to keep Monterey in range, but the Lady Rebels dominated the final frame 18-6.

The Lady Plainsmen (0-3) head to San Angelo Central on Friday.

Lady Pirates grab early control to top Plainview

PLAINVIEW -- No. 15-ranked Lubbock-Cooper used a methodical offense and effective free-throw shooting in the fourth quarter to subdue Plainview’s fourth-quarter rally to notch a 72-60 triumph Tuesday.

Avrie Douglas paced the Lady Pirates (4-0) with 19 points, Catalina Cortez chipped in with 17 and Autumn Moore added 15.

The Lady Bulldogs led 15-11 late in the first quarter before LCP hit a 5-0 spurt that gave it the lead for good to end the opening frame.

Plainview managed to take a 15-11 lead late in the first quarter after Majik Esquivel connected on a 3-pointer. The Lady Pirates closed the period on a 5-0 to take the 16-15 lead.

Cooper closed the second quarter on a 10-0 run for a 40-27 lead and the lead swelled to 24 points early in the fourth quarter. The Lady Bulldogs (4-1) rattled off 13 unanswered points to close within 11 points, but LCP slowed the pace to secure the victory.

Next up is a tough test at home against Canyon at 6 p.m. Friday.

Aariyah Moody led the Lady Matadors (2-1) with 18 points, buoyed by 4 3-pointers. 4 3s 18 points – 12 in 2nd half. Alizah Garces and Zani McMurray-Sanders contributed 9 points each

Seminole (4-0) burst in front 18-9 in the first quarter and stretched the lead each period. Moody’s 7 points in the 3rd quarter kept Estacado close for a while.

AMARILLO -- Naveah Ramirez poured in 13 points in the 1st quarter and Maddie Wootan was steady throughout to help Lubbock High secure its second win of the season, 51-48 against Caprock.

The Lady Westerners (2-3) trailed by three points heading into the final period when they outscored the Longhorns (1-3) 11-3. Wootan notched 4 of her 16 points in the final frame and Ramirez buried her 5th 3-pointer to wind up with 17 points.

Eagles thump Midland Christian 75-24 in season opener

Abbie Crow launched her senior season with a big night to spark Lubbock Christian past Midland Christian, 75-24.

Crow burned the Chargers for 25 points and 8 rebounds to pace a dominant team performance.

The Eagles (1-0) racked up 21 steals and 20 assists and dominated the rebound battle 42-21.

Lexi Caddell and Callie Roberts chimed in with 11 points apiece Mara Dendy was a pesky presence with 3 points, 5 rebounds, a team-high 6 assists and 4 steals.

LC heads to Brownfield for a 3:30 p.m. game on Saturday.
