Lubbock Christian got a tough test in its final test for the TAPPS playoffs on Thursday and passed with some late drama as the backdrop as the Lady Eagles rallied to knock off the Lubbock Lady Titans 43-39 in overtime.

Brooke Hooten paced Lubbock Christian (25-7) with 15 points and 8 rebounds on a night when both teams’ defenses set the tone. The Lady Titans led for most of the game despite shooting only 25% (15 of 60) from the field. Ellie Bruffey led the Titans with 12 points.

The playoffs begin Tuesday for the Lady Eagles when Tyler All Saints comes to town for a 2 p.m. showdown in the bi-district round.
